Young Filipinos Turning to EU’s Golden Visa Programs

The interest of Filipino nationals in European Golden Visa Programs has recently increased, with young professionals among the most interested ones.

Filipinos are considering Residency-by-Investment schemes as a pathway towards greater stability, Schengen.News reports.

Such conclusions have been reached in a recent report by an international property marketing consultancy, Golden Visa Central.

According to the visa consultancy service, golden visas have become a tool for wealth growth and global access.

Luis said that these programs are now seen as attractive investment opportunities that offer tangible financial returns.

Portugal & Greece Among Top Choices
The Residency-by-Investment programs are active in several European countries, offering pathways to residency for non-EU nationals in exchange for financial investments.

Up to this point, these programs are offered by countries such as Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, and Malta, among others.

Luis told Manila Standard that Portugal and Greece’s Golden Visa Programs are among the top choices for Filipinos.

Greece Golden Visa Program offers residency to internationals with the minimum investment requirement remaining €250,000 in some parts of the country. In December last year, the government of Greece said it aims to attract investors through more productive ventures while announcing that the startup option would also be included in this program.

At the same time, the Golden Visa Program of Portugal is also among the most sought-after schemes of this kind, in spite of changes to which the program was subject.

In a bid to deal with the housing crisis, authorities in Portugal decided to abolish the real estate investment option from this scheme. However, other options continue to remain effective.

Among the most famous Golden Visa Programs in Europe is also Spain’s; however, the government of Spain decided to abolish this scheme officially on April 3, 2025, to better manage the housing market.
