He stated that the centre would improve service quality, reduce crowds, and provide a more customized experience. It will also help meet the rising demand for Italian visas, fueled by a new mobility and migration agreement between Italy and India.

Opened just a year ago, the Italian consulate in Bengaluru oversees visa services for Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. The new VFS Global Centre aims to create a more comfortable application process and expedite handling times.

In early 2024, visa applications for Italy rose by 28% across India, reaching 54,200. This reflects Italy’s increasing popularity among Indian travellers. The new centre is a key step to accommodate this growing interest.
