USCIS Alert: Outdated Immigration Forms Face Rejection

USCIS published new editions for most of its forms.

To ease the transition, the agency initially allowed a grace period during which both old and new versions were accepted.

This grace period, however, ended on June 3, 2024. During this time, USCIS accepted both previous and new editions of certain forms, provided they were filed with the correct fee.

What Applicants Need to Do

To avoid rejections and ensure smooth processing of their applications, USCIS advises applicants to take the following steps:
Verify Form Editions:
Check the edition date at the bottom of each form page
Ensure all pages are from the current edition
Download Current Forms:
Obtain new forms directly from the official USCIS website
Avoid using forms from third-party websites or older downloads
Stay Informed:
Regularly check the USCIS website for announcements about form changes
Consider signing up for USCIS email updates
Review Thoroughly:
Carefully read all instructions for each form
Ensure all required fields are completed, and fees are correct
Submit Correctly:
Follow USCIS guidelines for proper filing locations and methods
Include all required supporting documents
