US Visa Bulletin For October 2024: Indians move forward in the Green Card queue

US Green Card applications: The October 2024 U.S. Visa Bulletin shows progress in most employment-based categories on the dates for filing chart, while the final action dates chart indicates modest movement.

The most significant update is the nearly two-year advancement in the final action date for EB-3 Worldwide. This positive shift will allow more applicants in this category to move forward with their cases.

USCIS has confirmed that for October 2024, adjustment of status applications will be accepted based on the dates for filing chart.

This decision is significant as it impacts many applicants who are eager to advance their cases. The bulletin also reflects the culmination of the fiscal year 2024 visa limits, which set a cap of 160,791 for employment-based preference immigrants—a limit that was reached by the end of September 2024.

In terms of the final action dates, EB-1 Worldwide remains current, and India holds steady at February 1, 2022. In the EB-2 category, there is no movement for Worldwide or India, indicating stability in these categories. For EB-3, the Worldwide category jumps forward by nearly two years to November 15, 2022, and EB-3 India advances by eight days to November 1, 2012.

Looking at the dates for filing chart, EB-1 Worldwide stays the same as September, but EB-1 India sees a two-month advancement to April 15, 2022.

The EB-2 category sees more substantial progress, with Worldwide moving forward by nearly five months to August 1, 2023, and India advancing by almost six months to January 1, 2013. In the EB-3 category, Worldwide ticks forward by one month to March 1, 2023, and India advances more than seven months to June 8, 2013.

These updates indicate ongoing movement across various employment-based categories, providing opportunities for many applicants to proceed with their immigration process.

Understanding the Visa Bulletin is crucial for individuals seeking Green Cards, as it provides vital information about the timeline for adjusting immigration status and eligibility based on application submission. The bulletin acts as a guide for the Green Card journey, featuring two essential sections.

Dates for Filing: This section specifies the earliest date applicants can submit their adjustment of status or immigrant visa applications. It helps applicants determine when they can proceed with their filing based on their visa category and country of origin.

Final Action Dates: These dates estimate the wait time for application approval, leading to permanent residency. They function as a queue based on visa category and nationality, indicating when applicants can expect their applications to be processed.
