UAE rolls out digital work permit system for faster hiring of overseas workers

UAE has launched a new digital service to simplify and speed up the process of hiring overseas workers.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced that employers can now apply for work permits through its official website or mobile application.

According to Gulf news, the updated system aims to streamline hiring by offering a more efficient and user-friendly platform.

Employers can initiate a work permit request by selecting a bundled service package, which includes the job offer, employment contract, and initial approval for the work permit.

Depending on the type of quota available, employers must choose the appropriate notification type.

Applications submitted through business service centres will require an e-signature verification.

However, those using the smart app can skip this step.

MoHRE said that the verification of documents is now supported by artificial intelligence tools.

Employers are required to fill in key information such as salary, working hours, and location, and upload relevant documents.

As per the report by Gulf News, if the application is made through business centres, the applicant's data will be verified via ID card reader.

This is not required for app-based submissions.

Once all information is entered and attachments uploaded, the employer can review the application and proceed to the payment step.

On completion of payment, the application is officially submitted.

The ministry’s move supports the UAE’s ongoing efforts to digitalize government services and improve recruitment efficiency.
