Student tears off passport pages to hide Thailand trip from college, caught at Mumbai airport

A 25-year-old student, SS Ghatol, was detained at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Singapore after immigration officials discovered four missing pages in her passport.

Ghatol, a first-year fashion merchandising student, allegedly removed the pages to conceal an unauthorized trip to Thailand from her institute, where she had faked an illness to skip an exam.

The incident led to her detention and charges under the Passport Act for tampering with the document.

In a related case, a 24-year-old man was previously caught at Delhi's airport for impersonating a senior citizen in an attempt to travel to Canada using a fake identity.
