Planning a trip to Thailand just got a lot easier. As per news reports, Indian passport holders can soon visit and stay in Thailand for 60 days, without a visa.
A new rule allows citizens of 93 countries visa exempt access to Thailand for up to 60 days, for the purpose of tourism. An additional 31 countries are eligible for a visa on arrival, for a stay period of 15 days.
Until November 2023, Indians required a visa-on-arrival to travel to Thailand, which allowed them a stay of up to 15 days.
Thailand’s visa-free entry facility came into effect in November last year, allowing Indians to stay in Thailand for up to 30 days without a visa.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand announced visa-free entry to Indians for six months, from May 10 to November 10, 2024. The maximum stay period was 30 days.
The new guidelines allow Indian passport holders to stay an additional 30 days. With the new rule, Indian passport-holders can soon stay in Thailand for up to two months, visa free.
