Singapore grants citizenship to 177 people

Sudhan, a 49-year-old who moved to Singapore in 2008, was among 177 new citizens who received their citizenship certificates at the National Citizenship Ceremony held at the Singapore Institute of Management Performing Arts Theatre.

The event, organized by the People’s Association, highlighted the importance of contributing to the community. In 2023, around 23,500 new citizenships were granted in Singapore.

Sudhan, whose wife and two children are Singaporean, expressed a sense of assurance after receiving citizenship, which he hopes will inspire his children to pursue their dreams.

His 19-year-old son recently enlisted for compulsory national service, which Sudhan believes is beneficial for his son's independence.
