Currently, travellers from countries requiring a visa for Serbia must navigate the often cumbersome process of in-person applications at Serbian embassies or consulates. However, this is set to change.
The new e-visa system will allow for entirely remote applications, saving travellers valuable time and effort. This digital transformation is a result of a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment.

The agreement, signed by Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić and Office Director Mihail Jovanović, focuses on improving Serbia’s visa information system. He emphasized that Serbia is making a “quantum leap” in digitalization, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs set to become the first institution authorized to use a digital seal for official documents.

The e-visa system will streamline the visa application process, reducing wait times and eliminating the need for in-person visits to embassies. This is especially beneficial for travellers from countries that require a visa to enter Serbia, such as India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Qatar, and several African and Middle Eastern nations.
Who Needs a Visa for Serbia?
Many travellers can visit Serbia without a visa for short stays (up to 90 days). Visa-exempt countries include:

However, travellers from countries such as Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Pakistan, and India must obtain a visa before arrival. These applicants will soon be able to complete the process online without visiting a diplomatic mission.
eVisa Launch and Future Plans
The Serbian government has not yet announced an exact launch date, but it expects to make the system available soon. As it prepares for the Specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade, it is also enhancing the existing Portal for Foreigners, which has already processed nearly 44,000 applications for temporary residence and work permits.
