On 13 March 2025 the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (the Authority) cancelled the registration of a migration agent for a period of 5 years.
The Authority found that the agent breached their obligations under the Code of Conduct for Registered Migration Agents.
Breached obligations included:
failing to act in the legitimate interest of clients
carrying out work in a manner that unnecessarily increased the cost to clients
failing to comply with client monies handling obligations.
The Authority was satisfied that the agent was not a person of integrity, or otherwise not a fit and proper person to give immigration assistance.
A total of ten migration agents have been sanctioned since 1 July 2024.
