Poland Revokes Visa of Pakistani National for Falsely Claiming Entry for Study Purposes

Poland has revoked the student visa of a Pakistani national who falsely claimed that he was a student and was entering Poland to pursue his studies at one of the country’s universities.

As the Polish authorities explained, all the information provided by the Pakistani nationals was false and his intention was not to study in Poland, Schengen.News reports.

The Pakistani national arrived at Poland’s Krakow International Airport on a flight from Abu Dhabi. As soon as he landed in the country, the Border Guard officers cancelled his national visa during the passport control and refused him entry into the country.

Commenting on the matter, the Carpathian Border Guard Division Press Officer, Justyna Drożdż, said that the Pakistani national did not hold any document that authorises him to enter or stay in the country for study purposes.

The same noted that the foreigner’s data was listed on the Border Guard list and that he was removed from the list of students.

The foreign national will now be returned to the same airport from which he flew to Poland.

Following the visa scandal that took place last year, Poland has tightened its visa rules for everyone, including international students.

In line with the new rules, Poland will no longer issue visas to international students who do not possess a high school diploma.

By introducing such a requirement, the Polish authorities want to ensure that the universities are not admitting students without properly checking their eligibility just to make more profit.

Earlier in April of this year, it was announced that some Polish universities had been found to be involved in the visa scandal.

They were accused of not properly verifying candidates. Due to the lack of proper checks, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna said that a large number of students, mainly from Rwanda, Türkiye, and Zimbabwe, enrolled in Polish universities to obtain visas.

Once these students were in Poland, they decided not to pursue their studies after their first year and instead chose to remain irregularly in the Schengen Area and work.
