Applying for a national visa (type D) in Poland will now be €135, from €80, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently revealed.
It also announced that the new change will come into effect starting June 1 of this year, Schengen News reports.
New National Visa Fee Is Expected to Eliminate Visa Queue
According to a press release by the Ministry, due to the increase in consular administration costs, the Schengen visa application fee (type C), as well as the fee for re-examination of a Schengen visa application, will also change.
Based on the statement, the change is expected to increase the availability of places for people applying for a visa for the first time.
The same authority further noted that the move mentioned above is directly related to the increase in the fee for the acceptance and examination of an application for the issuance of a short-term visa planned among the Schengen states in 2024 (from €80 to €90).
As the Ministry explains, the new national visa fee is expected to result in a decrease in the number of applicants whose actual purpose of staying in Poland differs from the declared one.
Increase in Polish National Visa Fees Was Planned Since April
Moreover, the Draft Regulation amending the Polish consular fees was initially submitted on April 2, 2024.
The draft aimed to increase the fee for issuing a Polish national visa from €80 to €135.
The D visa application form must be submitted in person.
In addition, visa application offices do not accept application forms sent by fax, regular mail or e-mail.
The decision to issue the visa is made within 15 working days from the application fee’s payment date.
On the other hand, if the documents need to be examined in more detail, the examination period can be extended up to 30 days.
