All airlines that use Schiphol Airport are expected to raise their ticket prices, a move that is likely to impact all flights that depart from Amsterdam.
Airlines travelling through Schiphol Airport will raise their prices every year for the next two years – 41 per cent in 2025 and five per cent in 2026, while in 2027, prices are anticipated to drop by 7.5 per cent. This leaves a 37 per cent price difference from 2024 to 2027, Schengen.News reports.
The new changes are expected to improve the quality that Schiphol offers but also can cause the Dutch airport to become the second-most expensive in Europe.
Higher Fees for Night Flights From Schiphol Airport Soon
The airport has also pointed out that night flights will be more expensive as the hub is enhancing its plans to reduce noise pollution.
Flying during the night will become three to six times more expensive than flying during the day. As mentioned earlier, the type of aircraft that the airlines use for trips will also impact the price.
Schiphol Airport Encourages Airlines to Use Their Newer Aircraft as Fares Can Be Lower
The Dutch airport will charge lower prices for quieter aeroplanes, usually the new ones. Noisier planes will be charged more, and this move can result in more airlines using their new aeroplanes to operate flights from this airport.
The news for the price hike was announced in 2023, but Schiphol Airport had introduced smaller fees compared to the recent ones. In 2024, the prices were increased by 14.8 per cent.
These changes are part of the airport’s plans to invest over €3 billion for maintenance and upgrades. The new investment plan will be rolled out between 2024 and 2027.
According to data by Airport World, a total of 31.8 million passengers used Schiphol as their airport in the first half of 2024 – a number expected to reach 65 to 69 million passengers by the end of the year.
