Passport Seva among top trending topics on Google search, here’s why

Passport Seva: Passport seva is one of the top trending topics on Google search as the topic saw a significant spike after high search volume was witnessed on Tuesday. 

As per Google Trends, the topic witnessed over 20k searches with a surge of 75 per cent in just 4 hours on Tuesday morning.

The spike was clearly due to the unavailability of the online Passport Seva Portal from August 29 to September 2. 

A notice on the official website read: “Passport Seva portal will be down for technical maintenance from 29th August 2024, Thursday 20:00 hrs IST to 2nd September, Monday 06:00 hrs IST. 

The system will not be available during this period for citizens and for all MEA/RPO/BOI/ISP/DoP/Police Authorities.”

The Passport Seva portal is now back online ahead of schedule. 

The Ministry of External Affairs announced that the system was restored at 7:00 PM IST on September 1, 2024, making it accessible to citizens and authorities alike.

The maintenance work, originally expected to take longer, was completed earlier than planned, ensuring minimal disruption to passport-related services. 

The portal is now fully operational, allowing users to book appointments, renew passports, and access other services.

In light of the maintenance, appointments scheduled for August 30, 2024, will be rescheduled. 

The Ministry has assured applicants they will be notified of the new appointment dates and times.
