If there is any error in the information, the department is directly cancelling it and the applicants have to apply afresh.
Whereas earlier, if there was any error, it could be corrected. 100 such applications are getting canceled every day.
People are facing the same problem in the regional passport office located in Mahmoorganj.
While applying, passports of more than 100 applicants are being cancelled every day if the applicant’s full name, address, wife’s name, father’s name, wrong information, information does not match with the documents.
They are being sent back saying that there is a mistake in the application form, apply again, pay the fee and come the next day.
More than 500 people from these districts come to get passports made every day
More than 500 people from districts like Azamgarh, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Ghazipur, Ballia and Jaunpur come to the passport office every day to get their passports made.
When their passport is not made that day, they have to return to their districts disappointed in the heat.
The regional passport office has 780 slots for making normal passports and 120 slots for Tatkal.
But between one thousand to twelve hundred people apply for normal passports every day.
Whereas 50 to 70 people apply for Tatkal.
Why are applications getting cancelled
The passport office official said that the Lucknow head office has changed the passport rules and said that now if there is any error in the form of any applicant, it will not be modified, rather the form will be cancelled directly.
Due to which the forms are getting cancelled.
