Macao Government Tourism Office Celebrates Macao Culture at Sunway Pyramid in Malaysia with Successful Roadshow

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) recently wrapped up its highly successful Experience Macao roadshow in Malaysia, held from July 5 to 8 at the Blue Concourse in Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

This four-day event showcased Macao’s vibrant tourism offerings with a focus on collaborative “tourism +” initiatives alongside local travel trade and Malaysian tourism operators.

The roadshow drew an impressive crowd of 268,000 attendees over the extended weekend, underscoring Macao’s status as Malaysia’s fourth-largest international visitor market.

In partnership with the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Macao’s integrated resort enterprises, the event featured themed booths, interactive games, and exclusive travel deals.

Attendees were treated to captivating performances by Malaysian and Macao artists, complemented by dynamic dance routines and magical displays.

Interactive activities such as prize-giving games and stamp collections added to the festive atmosphere, with daily grand draws offering enticing rewards like air tickets, hotel stays, and spa treatments.

Beyond the engaging onsite activities, MGTO also facilitated productive business discussions during the “Macao Tourism + MICE Product Updates Seminar & Travel Mart,” which brought together over 110 industry leaders from Macao and Malaysia.

This forum aimed to strengthen partnerships in attracting both leisure travelers and those attending MICE events (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).

To amplify its impact, MGTO employed a robust promotional strategy that spanned social media, local TV, radio, newspapers, and various online platforms. Collaborations with Malaysian celebrities and influencers further bolstered Macao’s visibility, resulting in an impressive cumulative exposure of 31.20 million views by the conclusion of the roadshow.

With a strategic emphasis on international markets and bolstered air connectivity, MGTO remains committed to expanding its outreach across short-haul destinations.

Events like the Malaysia roadshow play a pivotal role in MGTO’s overarching mission to diversify Macao’s tourism landscape and foster regional collaboration, aligning closely with the SAR Government’s economic development strategies.

Looking ahead, MGTO will continue to integrate innovative “tourism +” initiatives, broaden market diversity, and reinforce Macao’s standing as a premier global destination through ongoing initiatives and strategic partnerships.
