The Embassy of the Republic of Turkiye announced on Tuesday that Turkish authorities have initiated a requirement for Indian and Nepalese passport holders traveling to Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela, transiting via Istanbul Airport, to obtain an 'Electronic Airport Transit Visa' (e-ATV).
As per the embassy's statement shared on X by the Turkish Embassy in India, Indian and Nepalese passport holders subject to this requirement can obtain the e-ATV through the website "evisa.gov.tr" starting from April 15. Importantly, this service is provided free of charge, adhering to the current practice.
The post underscored the significance of this announcement for Indian and Nepalese passengers traveling to the aforementioned destinations via Istanbul Airport, effective from April 15, 2024.
The statement clarified that the Embassy of the Republic of Turkiye notified that Turkish authorities have begun enforcing the requirement for Indian and Nepalese passport holders transiting via Istanbul Airport to possess the e-ATV.
Indian and Nepalese passengers must carry a print-out of their e-ATVs during their travel. This print-out will be checked by the respective airlines or service providers at departure airports in compliance with international aviation regulations, as well as by Turkish authorities at the visa points in the transit passenger arrival area at Istanbul Airport.
The implementation of this requirement aims to facilitate smoother transit procedures and ensure adherence to international aviation standards. Indian and Nepalese passengers affected by this regulation are advised to obtain their e-ATVs in advance through the designated website and to carry the print-out during their travel as per the outlined guidelines.
