Greece’s Golden Visa Popularity Has Grown by 50% in US After Election Results

A total of 50.4 per cent increase has been noted in Google search by US nationals for the Greece Golden Visa Program in a period from October to December 2024, accounting for a significant increase in interest in just two months.

These results have been provided in the recent research conducted by the London-based company Astons, Schengen.News reports.

The increase that started to be more notable in November followed the US presidential elections and the recent announcement of the closure of the Golden Visa Program by authorities in Spain.

Lesina told Kathimerini that Americans’ interest in Greece’s Golden Visa Program has marked a notable increase, with the country becoming the most in-demand Golden Visa destination in Europe.

She stressed that Greece is “undoubtedly” going to benefit from the increased increase after Spain’s Golden Visa Program is officially terminated.

Last year, Greece announced new changes to its Golden Visa Program that would become effective from the beginning of 2025. Authorities in this country announced plans to attract investors through more productive ventures, providing additional details related to the startup option that will be included in this program.

Americans’ Interest in Spain’s Golden Visa Program Continues to Remain High
Based on the findings of the Astons firm, US Google Search for the term “Residency by Investment” has increased by 24.9 per cent over the past month. At the same time, search interest from US nationals in “Spain Golden Visa” marked a 21.6 per cent increase.

Spain will terminate its Golden Visa Program on April 3, 2025, in what the country’s authorities called an effort to manage the housing crisis.

The Congress of Deputies in Spain, on December 24, approved the termination of the Golden Visa Program, with the proposal passed with a total of 177 votes in favour and 170 against.

Portugal, which is also among the most sought-after countries for its Golden Visa Program, in spite of not abolishing the program altogether, ended the real investment option route in a bid to deal with the housing crisis.
