The recent campaign in Indian cities to attract tourists by Oman's Ministry of Tourism has been met with a fantastic response. The promotional events --held in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru-- saw participation from over 100 Indian companies. These events provided a valuable networking opportunity for stakeholders in India's tourism sector, including hotels, tour operators, airlines, and government representatives.
The campaign also featured more than 200 travel and tourism organizations from Oman. During the events, Oman’s Heritage and Tourism Ministry Under Secretary, Hassan Qasim Muhammad Al Busaidi, met with India’s Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi. Representatives from the Union Ministry of Tourism were also present. Omani tourism officials highlighted that the country is well-equipped to host weddings, conferences, and exhibitions for Indian tourists.
Key attractions for Indian visitors to Oman include a 10-day tourist visa available for just 5 Riyals, direct flights from Indian cities with less than a three-hour flight time, affordable accommodation, and a range of heritage sites and beautiful beaches.
Oman, just a two-and-a-half-hour flight from Kochi in Kerala, offers a wealth of attractions. Oman boasts stunning beaches, mountains, and oases, making it an ideal destination for travellers seeking diverse experiences. The country is renowned for its adventure tourism, including world-class opportunities for scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, and surfing.
While much of Oman is desert, the lush green hills and scenic coastlines offer a striking contrast. Desert camping is particularly popular, with travellers enjoying the breathtaking night skies and traditional Arab dances. Activities such as sandboarding, dune bashing, quad biking, and camel safaris ensure that adventure enthusiasts are never disappointed.
Oman’s rich history is reflected in its forts and palaces, with Al Alam Palace and Jabreen Fort, being essential visits for anyone interested in exploring the country’s heritage.
