ESO Science Communication Internship in Garching, Germany!

The European Southern Observatory (ESO) is offering a fully funded Science Communication Internship at its headquarters in Garching, Germany. This internship provides a unique opportunity for individuals interested in translating complex astronomical research into accessible and engaging content for the public. 

Internship Overview
•        Location: ESO Headquarters, Garching, Germany
•        Duration: 6 months
•        Compensation: Monthly allowance for living expenses, accommodation provided, and return travel covered
•        Application Deadline: Rolling applications; no fixed deadline, but candidates are encouraged to apply promptly 

Responsibilities
Interns will collaborate with ESO's Department of Communication to: 
•        Prepare ESO news and press releases
•        Develop publications, web pages, and video scripts
•        Design exhibition panels and other public communication materials
This role offers hands-on experience in science communication within a leading international research organization. 

Requirements
Ideal candidates should:
•        Have experience in written science communication or journalism
•        Possess basic knowledge of astronomy to comprehend scientific papers
•        Be fluent in English, both written and oral
•        Be currently studying or have recently completed a university degree in science, science communication, or science journalism

Applications must include a motivation letter, CV, and two written samples demonstrating the ability to communicate science to a broader audience. These samples should be in English and not exceed five pages each. Scientific papers or theses targeting a scientific audience are not accepted.
