Dubai rains: IndiGo reports flight disruptions for third day; Emirates suspends check-in for connections

Emirates Airlines announced on Friday that it would be suspending check-in services for all customers with onward connections through Dubai until 2359 GMT on April 19. This decision comes amidst challenging weather conditions affecting travel plans in the Gulf region. However, passengers whose final destination is Dubai itself can proceed with check-in and travel arrangements as usual.

"Customers travelling to Dubai as their final destination may check-in and travel as usual. Customers can expect delays to departures and arrivals and are advised to check the latest flight schedules on http://emirates.com," the airline said.

IndiGo also issued a travel advisory due to adverse weather conditions in Dubai, which have been exacerbated by heavy rainfall. In a statement shared on social media platform X, the airline cautioned passengers about flight disruptions and advised them to stay updated on their flight status before heading to the airport.

The Indian Embassy in Dubai has been actively engaged in assisting stranded Indian passengers amidst the travel disruptions. They have been coordinating with UAE authorities and airlines to facilitate connections for affected travelers. Additionally, relief efforts in collaboration with Indian community organizations have been put in place to support those impacted by the situation.

"We are in touch with UAE authorities and the airlines to facilitate stranded passengers. Regular updates from airlines are being conveyed to travelers. Relief measures have been extended in association with Indian community organizations," stated the Indian embassy in Dubai in a social media post.

The embassy reassured the public that helpline numbers would remain operational until conditions normalize. They emphasized their commitment to serving the Indian community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, facilitating communication between stranded passengers and their families.

Amidst the inclement weather, authorities in the United Arab Emirates have advised residents to stay indoors. The region has experienced heavy rain, hail, and thunderstorms, prompting cautionary measures to ensure public safety.
