Starting April 15, Delhi Airport will close Terminal 2 for maintenance, shifting all IndiGo and Akasa Air flights to Terminal 1. Passengers are advised to check updated schedules and terminal information to avoid confusion during this operational transition.
Starting from Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will temporarily shut down Terminal 2 (T2) as part of a major infrastructure overhaul. Airlines operating from T2, including IndiGo and Akasa Air, will now shift operations entirely to Terminal 1 (T1).
The move comes in response to ongoing runway upgrade work, which is part of a broader plan to improve airport capacity and passenger convenience. Flights currently operating from Terminal 3 (T3) will remain unaffected.
IndiGo Flights Now Operating from Terminal 1
Low-cost airline IndiGo, which operated a large number of domestic flights from T2, confirmed the transition to Terminal 1, effective April 15. The airline has advised passengers to expect possible changes in schedules during the shift.
Akasa Air Also Moves Operations to T1
Akasa Air, which previously operated from Terminal 2, has also confirmed the move to Terminal 1D. The airline is coordinating with airport authorities to ensure a smooth transition for its passengers.
Runway Upgradation at Continue Until July 2025
Passengers flying in or out of Delhi are advised to monitor updates from airlines and allow extra time for their journeys.
In a recent update, Air India tweeted:
“Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, is undergoing upgradation of runways. This initiative, as per DIAL, is expected to continue till July 2025. While we will make every effort to minimise inconvenience, there could be occasions when your flight schedules get affected.”
Terminal 1 Now Fully Operational
To accommodate the increased footfall, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has upgraded Terminal 1 with enhanced passenger facilities, improved connectivity, and modern infrastructure.
What Passengers Should Do
• Check flight status and terminal before heading to the airport
• Arrive early to adjust for any unexpected changes
• Follow airline updates via email, SMS, and social media
