Similar to a number of other European Union countries, Czechia has also decided to hike the minimum salary requirement for non-EU nationals who want to obtain their EU Blue Card and reach the country for work purposes.
In line with the new rules, starting May 1, 2025, the gross monthly salary requirement for obtaining Czechia’s EU Blue Card will increase from the current CZK 65,012 (€2,611) to CZK 69,248 (€2,781), Schengen.News reports.
This represents a 6.51 per cent hike compared to the current requirement. However, the decision is not expected to push those interested away as the EU Blue Card continues to remain one of the most sought-after documents by highly qualified non-EU nationals.
When applying for the EU Blue Card of Czechia, applicants must ensure that the amount is specified in the employment contract. They must also keep in mind that benefits and other bonuses are not included in the calculation.
Additionally, as Fragomen explains, applicants who seek to sponsor dependents need to additionally hold the minimum subsistence amounts. The same notes that in case of threshold changes, the new amount applies to current employees, pending applications, as well as new or renewal applications.
Who Is Eligible for Czechia’s EU Blue Card?
In order to be eligible for Czechia’s EU Blue card highly qualified non-EU nationals need to meet several other criteria in addition to the salary level.
