Click Day 2025: Italy Begins Accepting Applications for Foreign Workers

Italy has officially launched the “click day” system for this year today, February 5, 2025, permitting Italian employers to submit applications for bringing foreign nationals to the country for the purpose of hiring them in their companies.

As the Italian authorities have explained, applications for foreign workers can be submitted on three different days, depending on the type of workers and the sector in which they will be employed, Schengen.News reports.

Today, February 5, applications can be made by Italian employers for non-seasonal workers from countries that have cooperation agreements in place with Italy. The quota for 2025 for this group of foreign workers has been set to around 70,720.

This number suggests that Italy is dealing with labour shortages throughout different sectors and parts of the country and needs a large number of non-seasonal workers.

On Friday, February 7, 2025, the applications will open for another group of foreign workers. On this day, Italian employers will be able to make requests for other seasonal and self-employed workers, including those who will be working in the social healthcare sector, Stranieri in Italia explains.

The quota for this year for the above-mentioned group of workers will be around 730.

Lastly, on February 12, 2025, applications will open for seasonal workers who will be employed in the agricultural and tourism sectors. Around 110,000 permits will be issued to this group of foreign workers.

This means that in total, in 2025, Italy plans to bring around 181,450 foreign workers. These workers will be granted residence and work permits.

Most of Available Quotas Will Be Assigned During Dedicated ‘Click Days’
During the three “click days”, most of the available quotas will be assigned. However, Italian employers who still need workers and who have not been able to meet their company’s needs will be able to make requests for additional workers.

However, since te access to the Italian labour market for foreign nationals is regulated by annual quotas, only necessary additional requests will be approved.

For this reason, employers have been able to take advantage of the click days and submit all the required documents to increase their chances of being able to hire foreign workers.

Foreign workers have also been called to meet all the requirements. Foreign workers need to submit a valid passport, proof of their educational of professional qualifications if required, a certificate of residence issued by the country of origin, and the employment contract which both the employer and the foreign worker have signed.
