The employment rate increased by 90,000 in April, following a 0.4% change from March. The employment gains were managed by part-time employment. On a year-over-year basis, the part-time employment rate increased by 2.9%, while the full-time employment rate increased by 1.7% in April. Employment increased in industries such as professional, scientific, and technical services, accommodation and food services, health care and social assistance, and natural resources. The total work hours rose by 0.8% compared with the previous 12 months. Average salaries reached $35 per hour in April.
