7 agents of Punjab booked after US Embassy flags fake papers

In a rare development, the US Embassy has got a case registered against visa consultants of Punjab for processing US visa files by attaching fake work experience and education certificates, with a motive to mislead the US government. Owners of various private firms of Punjab have also been booked for issuing fake work experience and education certificates. 

The agents are suspected of submitting fraudulent information to cheat the US Embassy in India and the US government to obtain visas. 

A case under various Sections of the BNS was registered on the complaint of Eric C Molitors, Overseas Criminal Investigator, Regional Security office, US Embassy, New Delhi. 

The embassy had sent a complaint to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav for necessary action. In a complaint, the embassy official stated that suspected fraudulent activities were perpetrated by Red Leaf Immigration, Overseas Partner Education Consultants and other establishments. 

At least seven persons have been booked. 
They are Amandeep Singh and Poonam Rani of Zirakpur, Ankur Kehar of Ludhiana, Akshay Sharma and Kamaljit Kansal of Mohali, Rohit Bhalla of Ludhiana and Kirti Sood of Barnala. Amandeep and Poonam are partners at Red Leaf Immigration, Sector 22 C, Chandigarh, while Ankur runs Overseas Partner Education Consultant at Bharat Nagar Chowk, Ludhiana. He also owns Rudra Consultancy Service, which arrange funds in lieu of hefty charges from applicants for applying for US visa.
